Artificial upwelling: an opportunity to reverse coral bleaching events

With 2020 being on course to be the warmest year on record, and the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere being the highest it has been in human history (as of May 2020), the oceans are being affected significantly. Thermal-stress events associated with climate change cause coral bleaching and mortality that threatens coral reefs survival globally.
