Funding Opportunity: OCEAN Grants Programme

The Ocean Community Empowerment and Nature (OCEAN) Grants Programme is opening its second round of applications on Monday, 6 January 2025. This round prioritizes projects emphasizing gender equality, disability, and social inclusion, while also welcoming applications focused on other themes.

The OCEAN Grants Programme is an investment of up to £60m to fund projects .

OCEAN seeks diverse proposals for projects that prioritize embedding local communities in their decision-making.
 
All applications are welcome – from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), private sector organizations, businesses, and business associations.
 
Proposals from in-country organisations that work directly with coastal communities are particularly encouraged.
 
Please consider BCSS as your partner in the application process, or as your partner on the ground.

Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies
Host of the first permanent Ocean Observatory focused on multi-ecosystem time series research in Africa, the Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies (BCSS) was established in 2017 as in independent, non-profit organisation with a mission to protect and support the fragile ecosystems of the Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique. The research station is located on Benguerra Island, off the coast of Mozambique.
